Suran (Elephant Yam) Vegetable Recipe

Suran is a tuber vegetable that is very detoxifying.  We don't recommend eating it in the Summer because the detox pathways are too hot and dry to cope up with eliminating acidic toxins.  It is an excellent vegetable in the Spring and Fall.  It is good for the Liver, Spleen and Apana Vata.  It is especially good for hemorrhoids.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag of frozen Suran (buy at Indian Grocery)
  • 1 tsp of ghee
  • 1/2 tsp of turmeric
  • 1 tsp of spice mix
  • 1/8 tsp of Cooling Soma Salt
  • 2 oz of water

Instructions:

Add to the pan with the water.  Cook out the water then add the ghee and spices. Cover and cook on a low eat. Then toast it nicely
