Panch Phoran is a blend of above 5 whole spices that are toasted. They give the give the dish a wonderful spicy crunch of 5 different flavors.
Ingredients (whole seeds)
- coriander...................................1 tsp
- fennel........................................1 tsp
- cumin........................................1 tsp
- fennugreek................................1 tsp
- kalonji........................................1 tsp
Instructions:
Fry 1/2 tsp of panch phoran in ghee or olive oil until golden brown.
And then continue with the recipe.

Great in poha, sauteed veggies, kitchery dishes, frying fish or chicken, fried paneer etc.
