Red Masoor Dal

Masoor dal is a red lentil that cooks very fast  This recipe by Prabha is easy and delicious.

Ingredients:

  • Red Masoor Daal.............................1/2 cup
  • Ghee.................................................2 tbs
  • chopped curry leaves........................1 tbs
  • Chopped ginger................................1 tbs
  • Cracked cumin seeds........................1 tsp
  • Cilantro stem chopped......................1 tsp
  • Cilantro chopped............................. 1/4 cup
  • turmeric.............................................1/4 tsp
  • Cooling Soma Salt......................... 1/2 tsp or to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan add the washed daal, salt, turmeric and 2 cups of water, bring to a boil, reduce the heat, continue boiling for about 12 minutes.
  2. In a small frying pan heat the ghee, add cumin, ginger, curry leaves and cilantro stem.
  3. Fry until light brown. After the 12 minutes cooking the daal, pour this mixture over the daal, add the chopped cilantro, cook for few more minutes.
  4. If the daal has too much water boil to thicken, too less water add few tbs of water according to your preference. Daal should be thick and soupy.
